Sintered Stone Stair

Inspired by the celebrated Panda White marble, this Sintered Stone Stair translates the same high-contrast black ribbons and crisp white field into sintered stone – a full-body porcelain produced at 1200 ℃ and 15 000 t pressure. The result is a visual statement that keeps the “ink-wash” aesthetic while adding Mohs 7 hardness, ≤0.05 % water uptake and 35 MPa flexural strength, allowing spans unobtainable in natural marble.

Panda White Sintered Stone Stair when marble drama meets aerospace toughness

Icon at a glance

Inspired by the celebrated Panda White marble, this stair translates the same high-contrast black ribbons and crisp white field into sintered stone – a full-body porcelain produced at 1200 ℃ and 15 000 t pressure. The result is a visual statement that keeps the “ink-wash” aesthetic while adding Mohs 7 hardness, ≤0.05 % water uptake and 35 MPa flexural strength, allowing spans unobtainable in natural marble.

Why choose it for steps

Non-slip confidence: leather or matt finish gives R11 / DIN 51130 grip even when wet; polished bands can be restricted to vertical nosing for contrast without hazard.

Scratch & fade immunity: metal-heeled shoes, pet claws or vacuum cleaners leave no trace on the vitrified surface.

Heat-proof: a forgotten cigarette or Christmas-light transformer on a tread will not scorch or colour-shift the stone.

Zero maintenance: no annual sealing, no colour-enhancer – routine mopping with pH-neutral cleaner is enough.

Structural freedom

Large-format slabs up to 3.2 m × 1.6 m let a single flight run from landing to landing without transverse joints; 12 mm thickness is adequate for residential loads when bonded on a continuous sub-floor, while 20 mm pieces can be cantilevered 300 mm for “floating” effects. Because every piece is colour-through, bull-nose, mitered or waterfall edges reveal the same veining, giving designers a monolithic look impossible with marble veneers.

Coordination palette

The black-on-white graphic pairs with virtually any palette:

Warm Nordic: white-oak handrail + antique-brass rods.

Industrial: matte-black stringer and exposed bolts.

Luxe Asian: dark wengé treads framed by white risers – reversing the panda colours for instant drama.

LED strips recessed beneath the nosing bounce light off the white body, turning each step into a luminous guide at night.

Install in a day, forget for a lifetime

Levelling screed finished to ±2 mm.

Large slabs positioned with suction cups, aligned by laser level.

Rapid-set S2 cementitious adhesive, 10 mm notched trowel.

Mechanical hidden connectors at every third tread for anti-slip seismic code compliance.

Color-matched epoxy for microscopic joints (≤1 mm) – visually seamless, water ingress-proof.

Sustainability edge

Up to 40 % of the mix is recycled feldspar and kiln dust; the product is fired with biomass, cutting embodied CO₂ compared with quarrying, shipping and resin-finishing marble blocks. At end-of-life the stair can be removed, crushed and re-introduced into the porcelain cycle – a closed-loop that natural stone cannot offer.

Cost snapshot (China export, 2024 Q3)

12 mm slab: USD 48–57 / m² FOB Xiamen

20 mm slab: USD 72–85 / m²

Fabrication (CNC bull-nose, anti-slip grooves): USD 8 / lm

Typical 3 m-wide, 12-step flight material cost ≈ USD 900 – competitive with mid-range marble yet half the lifetime expense.

Conclusion

Panda White sintered-stone stairs deliver the graphic punch of marble, the endurance of granite and the maintenance ease of porcelain – a trifecta that turns an everyday staircase into a signature sculpture without the worry of chips, stains or yearly sealers.
