Bringing the Stars of the Agate Tile to the Doorstep of Amsterdam– The Full Story of HRST and Dutch Client Mark’s Agate Collaboration
The brilliance and quality of agate tiles make them suitable for interior decoration. Designers combine them with the room to create a unique effect.
I. Agate Tile – First Encounter: From Purple Stone to “Dutch Night Sky”
In March 2022, an inquiry landed in HRST’s inbox: “Can you let purple Agate glow under 6000 K daylight?” The sender, Mark, was a Dutch architect planning to transform his living room into a mini showroom. He needed “stone that could emit light.”
That same day, we sent him six A4-sized hand samples, along with a 48-page hardcover catalog and a login code to our website, where he could browse our full range of Agate products.
The catalog categorized Agate slabs into seven series by color and pattern:
– Classic Purple Agate tile
– Royal Blue Agate tile
– Smoky Grey Agate tile
– Uruguay Star Galaxy Agate tile – golden inclusions sparkle like stardust under 6000 K light
– Petrified Wood Agate tile – annual rings intergrown with Agate, ideal for nature-themed designs
– Ice Flower White Agate tile
– Sunset Orange Agate tile
Each series was available in 18 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm thicknesses, with suggested applications: feature walls, flooring, tabletops, bar counters, decorative panels, lamp columns, rotating display platforms, etc.
In the website’s 3D gallery, Mark dragged and dropped the purple Agate into a virtual living room. Under simulated 6000 K cool white light, the silky texture immediately captivated him.
II. The Wait: EU EORI Number and Cross-Border Bank Account
As the EU requires an EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number for stone imports, Mark spent eight months submitting showroom plans, environmental statements, and projected annual import volumes to Dutch customs. He finally obtained his personal EORI code.
Meanwhile, he opened a dedicated euro account with ING Bank for cross-border transfers, ensuring future payments could reach HRST’s foreign currency account directly, avoiding intermediary fees.
Throughout this period, we followed up monthly, sending photos of every new quarry batch so Mark could pre-select his preferred veining.
III. Restart: Order Confirmed, 6000 K Backlighting Locked In
In April 2024, fully qualified Mark placed his official order:
– 20 ㎡ Uruguay Star Galaxy Agate (full living-room wall, 6000 K backlight)
– 15 ㎡ Classic Purple Agate (entrance)
– 10 ㎡ Royal Blue Agate (bar counter)
– 10 ㎡ Smoky Grey Agate (passage)
– 5 ㎡ Petrified Wood Agate (VIP room feature)
All slabs 18 mm thick, backed with 6000 K dimmable LED panels, cool-white temperature to highlight golden sparks and purple veins.
IV. Hiccup: The Rebirth of One Blue Agate Slab
Near the end of cutting, we noticed a 3 cm shell-chip on the top-right corner of a blue Agate piece. Over video Mark frowned: “My client will see this under 6000 K daylight; every flaw becomes a star in the sky.”
We scrapped the piece immediately, re-matched the vein, re-polished, and sent new photos within 48 hours. He replied with a big ? and a Dutch-beer emoji.
V. Packaging: Stone Travels First Class to the Front Door
– Blue 8-mil protective film on each slab face
– 20 mm EPE foam corners all round, 30 mm high-density foam caps top & bottom
– Vertical placement with 12 mm plywood battens to prevent transit vibration
– Outer frame: 18 mm heat-treated poplar crate, steel-band cross-braced, single crate ≤ 45 kg, EU one-person carry standard
– Bilingual “Fragile Stone / Keep Dry” spray mark plus Mark’s orange logo
Shipping terms: DDU door-to-door. After port arrival, our agent clears customs and trucks the crates straight to Mark’s suburban Amsterdam house—he only needs to sign the delivery note.
VI. Switch-On: A “Living-Room Galaxy” at 6000 K
On 28 June the truck pulled up. Mark filmed the whole process: unboxing→standing panels→wiring→switch-on.
The moment 6000 K cool-white light hit the Uruguay Star Galaxy, golden sparks exploded across the wall like a milky way; purple Agate displayed silk-grade luster under the daylight-white, contrasting beautifully with the Dutch night outside.
His voice message: “You didn’t sell me stone—you delivered the Southern Hemisphere night sky to my living room.”
VII. Opening Night: Sharing the Galaxy with Amsterdam
15 September, private showroom “Nova Agate” opened.
– Entrance: 15 ㎡ Classic Purple + 6000 K strip—guests walk straight into a purple star tunnel.
– Feature wall: 20 ㎡ book-matched Uruguay Star Galaxy, 6000 K tunable system synced with music: sunrise→noon→starlight loop, the event’s most-Instagrammed spot.
– Bar: 10 ㎡ Royal Blue, under-counter bi-color LED (3000-6000 K): warm-white while mixing, cool-white for photos—one cocktail, two lighting moods.
– VIP room: 5 ㎡ Petrified Wood table-top, annual rings lit by 6000 K side beam, like amber cut by time—Mark signs high-end clients here.
VIII. Epilogue: Bringing the Southern Cross to More Roofs
From a purple inquiry in 2022 to a front-door galaxy wall in 2024, HRST and Mark’s journey proves:
– A professional catalog + 6000 K lit samples bridges language and geography.
– EU EORI + dedicated EUR account is the key for private buyers to import bulk stone.
– DDU door-to-door gives clients a one-click receipt experience.
Next chapter: we’re preparing the newly quarried Ice Flower White Agate for Cologne’s stone fair—so the Southern Cross can shine on even more European roofs.
The story isn’t over; the stars go on.
